Scented candles hand made in Malta

Birgu Candles are designed and inspired by the many wonderful sights and scents of the mediterranean islands of Malta, a destination brimming with sun, sea and centuries of culture.

Our scented candles are hand poured and made in-store in Malta. Natural wax, along with divine fragrance notes, will transport you into a different space from the very first burn. Our natural wax consists of rapeseed and coconut, it is completely free from paraffin, palm, beeswax and additives.

Our artisan products have been carefully designed and developed to light up your senses, creating a long-lasting and unmistakable aroma sure to complement any setting.

Step back in time

Birgu Candlelight Company is set in the heart of Birgu in Malta. Our studio shop where we make our candles on-site can be found within the ancient walls of the Church of St. Lawrence, the first Collegiate Church of the Knights of St. John, dating back as far as the 16th Century.

Also known as Vittoriosa, Birgu is part of the area called The Three Cities comprising of Birgu, Isla and Bormla. All set behind huge defensive bastions, adjacent to the majestic Grand Harbour and Malta’s capital city Valletta.

Many events take place here each year, one of which is Birgu Fest which hosts the very special night of Birgu By Candlelight, a festival of light that illuminates the winding medieval streets with the gentle glow of thousands of candles...

Happy International Women’s Day! 💪

Today and every 8th March, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and achievements of all women around the world.

But did you know that the official flower of International Women’s Day is the mimosa? The association of mimosa flowers with International Women’s Day originated in Italy in 1946 and is used as a symbol of strength, sensibility, and sensitivity.

The mimosa scent is also at the heart of our very own Valletta Spice fragrance!
